WORKING
IN CANADA
Thousands of foreign workers enter Canada every year to work
temporarily to help Canadian employers address skill shortages in Canada.
You must have a valid work permit to work in Canada.
These
steps must be followed before you apply for a work
permit:

An employer
must first offer you a job.

Human
Resources Development Canada must provide a confirmation of your job
offer.

After step 2,
you apply for your work permit.
You
cannot immigrate with a work permit. If you want to come and live in
Canada as a permanent resident, see
Immigration.
The
Work Permit will state that the foreign national can work in a specific
employment capacity for a specific period of time for a specific employer.
A Work Permit will not be issued to a foreign national to come to Canada
to look for employment.
